Which new emojis are available in 2026?

Emoji 17.0 is the current released set. It adds seven new standalone characters, including Distorted Face, Fight Cloud, Orca, Trombone, and Treasure Chest. It also adds a Ballet Dancer sequence and more skin-tone and gender combinations for existing people emojis. Counting every variant, the release contains 163 new emoji sequences.

You can copy the Emoji 17.0 characters below now. Whether they display correctly depends on the fonts installed on the receiving phone, computer, browser, or app. This page uses artwork previews so you can still see each design when your current font is missing it.

An early Unicode preview mentioned Apple Core, but it does not appear in the final Emoji 17.0 additions chart. It is not included in the copy list below.

Unicode's current Emoji 18.0 beta contains nine base characters. The set is still a preview until Unicode 18.0 is finalized, with the release currently planned for September 2026. Names, codepoints, or inclusion can still change before then.

Why does a new emoji appear as a square?

Unicode defines the character, but each platform supplies its own font and artwork. A phone or app that has not added Emoji 17.0 cannot draw the character, so it shows a blank square, a box with a question mark, or separate pieces of a joined sequence.
